How to Measure Your Jade Bangle Size

A jade bangle should slide over the widest part of your hand with a little effort, then sit comfortably on the wrist. Because solid jade can't be resized, getting the size right before you buy is essential. Here's how.
Method 1: Measure your hand (recommended)
- Bring your thumb to touch the base of your little finger, as if slipping on a bangle.
- Wrap a soft tape measure (or a strip of paper) around the widest part of your hand at the knuckles.
- Note the circumference in millimetres. If using paper, mark it and measure against a ruler.
- Divide that circumference by 3.14 to get the bangle's inner diameter.
Example: a 170 mm hand circumference ÷ 3.14 ≈ a 54 mm inner diameter bangle.
Method 2: Measure a bangle you already own
Take a bangle that fits well and measure its inner diameter (edge to edge across the opening) in millimetres. Match that to your new bangle's inner diameter (圈口).
Quick reference (inner diameter)
- Petite: ~50–52 mm
- Small: ~52–54 mm
- Average: ~54–56 mm
- Large: ~56–58 mm
- Extra large: 58 mm+
These are general guides — always measure your own hand, as bone width and flexibility vary.
Principle vs round (comfort) bangles
- Principle bangle (正圈) — flat on the inside, rounded outside; the classic look. Choose a slightly larger size for comfort.
- Round / comfort bangle (圆条) — rounded inside and out; smoother to slip on and very comfortable for daily wear.
Fit tips
- Measure in the evening, when hands are slightly larger.
- Prefer a snug-but-removable fit; too loose risks knocks and breakage.
- Use a little hand cream or a plastic bag over the hand to slip a bangle on.
